Sonam Bhakta, MD

Dr. Bhakta completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, TX. She subsequently completed her residency in Psychiatry and her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She was chief resident during her final year of training in the Child and Adolescent Program. During her fellowship, she received the William S. Thayer Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Bhakta is board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Bhakta treats children, adolescents, and adults with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders including ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and peripartum disorders. She focuses on medication management and is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care.
